The wind howled like a cat in my ears. It seemed to keep picking up speed as though the world was trying to tell me something. I didn’t listen. I needed to get somewhere fast and if I listened to my basic instincts it would have ruined what I was trying to accomplish. I wrapped my arms around myself, pulling my coat close to my body and struggling on. At times I felt like I would be blown up into the sky like a piece of paper, helpless against the brutality of the wind. But, alas, that only happened in shows like anime and cartoons.

amazed at the beauty
yet blinded by the glow
there is not a sound
not a single move in sight
but you see your breath on the window
fogging up the clear light
Icy out yet feeling warm
inside your cozy, little home
the sun rises up above the snow
you see the stars begin to fade
yet the moon remains longer for another day
behind the trees there is a red glow
the softness of the white against the brown
they lost their color to prepare for cold
